ULM Louisiana Small Business Development Center to hold workshops July 12 and 19

The University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Louisiana Small Business Development Center will hold two upcoming small business workshops July 12 and July 19.

Topics of interest will include starting and financing a small business, and the power of email and social media marketing.

Pre-registration is required for all workshops.

Starting and Financing a Small Business
Thursday, July 12, 6-8 p.m. in Hemphill Hall, Room 113. This workshop is free and open to the public.

This two-hour workshop is recommended for individuals who are interested in determining the feasibility of their business idea, planning to start or have recently started a small business, want to expand their business, are interested in obtaining a small business loan, or want to learn more about planning and management.

Topics of discussion include business feasibility, business planning, business description, marketing strategy development, financial planning, loan process/applications, and sources of funds for small business start-up and expansion.

The Power of Email and Social Media Marketing
Wednesday, July 19, 9 a.m.-12 noon in Hemphill Hall, Room 113. Prices are $20 per person or $15 pre-registered & prepaid.

So you have a business Facebook page, now what?

This session will teach you how email and social media marketing work together to build your small business brand and increase revenue and profits.

Discussion topics will include, increasing email deliverability and open rates, writing good subject lines and content - getting readers to take action, tracking results and what to do with this information, how to build email lists and grow social networks, advanced techniques for using Facebook as a marketing tool, and Facebook landing pages, page design, deals, analytics, best practices, contests and more.

Brian Walker of 5 Stone Media LLC in Hammond will be the featured speaker.
