ULM Dental Hygiene staff offers classes for hygienists Jan 18-19

The faculty of the Dental Hygiene program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will offer various courses covering the oral health field on the ULM campus.

On Friday, Jan. 18, the first of three “Focus on Dentistry” seminars will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the ULM Conference Center, located on the seventh floor of the ULM Library.

Michael Glick, D.M.D. will present “Medically Complex Patients:  The Role of the Oral Health Care Professional.”

This presentation will address what OHCPs can do for patients overall health and well-being, as well as discussing treatment protocols for the medically complex patient.

A "Dental X-Ray Function and Safety" course for dental assistants will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19 in Caldwell Hall, Room 218, on the ULM Campus.

The cost for the course is $189 and is a Louisiana State Board of Dentistry approved course for dental assistants who must complete a course in dental x-ray function and safety within their first six months of employment.

Certificates will be awarded to those participants who attend all sessions.

This course can also be used in partial fulfillment of requirements for Expanded Duty Dental Assistant Certification.
