Chautauqua Nexus returns to Monroe: next event March 12

The Chautauqua Nexus returned March 5 with guest speakers ULM social psychology professor Dr. Joe McGahan and Scott Higginbotham discussing the history of the Nexus and the purpose in bringing the program to downtown Monroe.

The Chautauqua Nexus provides enriching learning experiences by hosting inspiring guest speakers, performances, and art exhibitions.

The goal of the Nexus is to make Monroe a center of cultural and intellectual exchange.

McGahan said, “Downtown Monroe is already witnessing a movement, and the Nexus can benefit from while adding to the excitement as well.”

The Chautauqua Nexus hopes to bring residents downtown more often and show them the creative potential hidden in Monroe, said McGahan.

In addition to the opening event on March 5, the Nexus program hopes to provide a variety of events in the future.

On March 12, Michael Echols, Director of Business Development at Affinity Health Group and Vantage Health Plan, will present his speech, “Downtown Revitalization.”

This event will take place at 7 p.m. at The Palace, located at 220 DeSiard St.
