ULM President appoints athletic director search committee members

Today, ULM President Dr. Nick J. Bruno announced the newly formed ULM Athletic Director Search Committee.

The Athletic Director Search Committee is comprised of alumni, business leaders, ULM faculty, ULM staff, and community educators.

In addition, several ex officio members will be named at a later date.

ULM alum Scott McDonald, executive vice president of Ouachita Independent Bank, president of ULM Facilities Corporation, and member of ULM Athletics Foundation Board, will serve as the committee chair.

He said, "I am excited and humbled that President Bruno would like me to serve on the committee. ULM is a special place, and I am confident our committee will help identify a candidate who can enhance our university."

Additional search committee members, all of whom are ULM alumni, include:

Brett Bennett, ULM Assistant Professor, Head of Radiologic Technology, faculty athletics representative, member of University Athletics Academic Advisory Committee; Brian Moreau, owner of BMO Ventures; Harold Turner, president of Shreveport-Bossier Region Red River Bank, member of ULM Foundation Board of Trustees;

Jeff Foote, owner of Homes Plus Manufactured Housing, Inc., president of ULM Athletics Foundation Board of Trustees; Karen Crowley, ULM Associate University Registrar, member of Presidential Athletics Task Force; Leon Miletello, entrepreneur; Lou St. Amant, retired teacher and former ULM head baseball coach;

Dr. Mary Adams, ULM Associate Professor of English, member of University Athletics Academic Advisory Committee; Pat Mitchell CEO/President/Owner of St. Joseph Holdings LLC, lifetime member of ULM L-Club; and Susan Hoffmann, North LA Market President of JP Morgan Chase, member of ULM Foundation Board of Trustees.

Bruno also officially signed a contract with CarrSports Consulting, LLC, who will serve as a resource to the search committee.

CarrSports, who is familiar with ULM operations, will conduct a SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat) analysis of ULM Athletics to identify critical issues facing the department and the new athletic director.

Last week, Bruno appointed Men's Basketball Coach Keith Richard as interim senior athletic administrator until a new athletic director is appointed.

Current Athletic Director Bobby Staub, who resigned April 16, will maintain his position until July 1. Staub will utilize some leave time until that date.

Richard will: act in the absence of the athletic director; serve until a new athletic director is hired; assume primary responsibility of marketing and public advocacy of ULM's athletic program; lead athletic fundraising; coordinate daily operations; serve as interim director of the athletic foundation; and report to the university president.
