Artist Information
Louis Nabors (bass) is a local legend regarded for his repertoire of Spirituals and impossibly deep, resonant timbre. He is currently Voice Department Chairman at the University of Louisiana at Monroe where he teaches voice. Mr. Nabors received his Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Prairie View University, his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Southern University and has taught and performed across the country, appearing at the Kennedy Center as well as with top opera companies and symphonies in Arizona, Houston, Los Angeles, Fort Worth, and around Louisiana, as well as internationally in West Germany, the Philippines, and the Bahamas. He also appeared in musical theater nationwide and has been recognized both artistically and personally by such nods as 1990 College of Liberal Arts Performing Artist of the Year award and several honors for outstanding community service. In 2005, Mr. Nabors performed the role of Amonasro in Elton John’s Aida, spent the summer teaching in Italy and completed a recital tour throughout Germany in 2006. During the summer of 2007, he performed the role of Sarastro in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with Almafi Coast Music Festival and will be seen as Simone in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi this in Spring 2008.
Richard Novak (tenor) is quickly establishing a national reputation as a professional tenor. In the summer of 2007, Mr. Novak was an Apprentice Artist with the Chautauqua Opera. At Chautauqua, he performed the role of El Remendado in Bizet’s Carmen. He also performed two concerts with the Chautauqua Symphony and covered the roles of Don José and Werther. At the conclusion of the program, Mr. Novak was the recipient of one of the top Apprentice Artist Awards. Other training programs include the Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Program, the Wichita Grand Opera Resident Artist Program and the Wesley Balk Singing/Acting Institute. In 2005 and 2006, Mr. Novak won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Tulsa District). He is a former winner of the University of North Texas Concerto Competition and a first place winner of the Texoma Region (NATS) Singer of the Year Competition. Mr. Novak has performed with the Chautauqua Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Wichita Grand Opera, The Living Opera, San Antonio Symphony and Monroe Symphony. Mr. Novak’s operatic credits include Rodolfo, Alfredo, Don José, Nemorino, Eisenstein, Giles Corey, Lippo, and Roméo. Mr. Novak was the tenor soloist in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle at the prestigious Gilmore International Keyboard Festival under the baton of Joe Miller. Upcoming performances include the role of Tybalt in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with Opera Carolina, a DMA lecture recital and a GMU Faculty Recital. Prior to joining the faculty at George Mason University, Mr. Novak held teaching positions at Oklahoma State University, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and Angelina College. Mr. Novak holds a BM and MM in Vocal Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University, and is nearing the completion of the Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at the University of North Texas. Mr. Novak resides in Vienna, Virginia with his family and is the choir director at the Church of the Good Shepherd Methodist Church.

Coralie White (piano), a native of West Monroe, Louisiana is a popular soloist, accompanist, and teacher throughout the Ark-La-Miss area. Having studied at Louisiana State University and The University of Louisiana at Monroe, Mrs. White received the bachelor and master’s degrees in piano performance. She is a member of the faculty in the School of Visual and Performing Arts at ULM, teaching private piano, group piano classes, music history classes, and collaborates with students, faculty and guest artists in recital. She is in her 30th year of teaching at ULM, has been Principal Keyboardist with the Monroe Symphony for 34 years, and served as church organist for over 40 years. She also has maintained a studio of students for private piano lessons for over 40 years, and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Piano. Mrs. White has appeared five times as soloist with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Twin Cities Symphony, South Arkansas Symphony, ULM Orchestra, ULM Concert Band, West Monroe High School Band, and the Riverside Concert Band. She has also appeared as soloist with the 156th Army Band, as well as at Magnolia Hill Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi for several years of concerts in “September Song” fundraisers for the Schepis Museum in Columbia, La. She also plays the calliope for area towns and festivals. For over ten years she was a member of the successful duo-piano team, Vance and White, performing concerts, recitals and with orchestra throughout the Ark-La- Miss area. Currently, she is a soloist and collaborator with “The Three Kings,” an Ensemble in Residence of The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council, since December, 2005. This group has three times performed with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, toured North Louisiana for the past three years. She received the 2004 Northeast Louisiana Arts Council Artist of the Year Award and the Roger DiGiulian Life-Time Achievement Music Award from the Monroe Symphony Orchestra. A cancer survivor, Mrs. White represented the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute in a 1999 award-winning television commercial, and was also featured in the Spring-Summer issue of “Louisiana Life Magazine.” She is an active participant and score-keeper in the Race for the Cure, for breast cancer. Mrs. White is a former “Outstanding Young Woman of Ouachita Parish,” "Louisiana’s Outstanding Young Woman,” “Outstanding Young Women in America" and is listed in “Who’s Who Among Women,” “Who’s Who Among Teachers” and “Who’s Who in America.”
