The ULM School of Pharmacy is the only state supported pharmacy program in Louisiana, and the faculty, staff, students and alumni are very proud that we are the state of Louisiana’s School of Pharmacy. The School offers three distinct academic programs: 1) the Doctor of Pharmacy program; 2) the graduate program in pharmacy offers a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Pharmacy, and 3) the Bachelor of Science program in Toxicology which is one of only seven undergraduate toxicology programs in the nation.
The School is comprised of an outstanding group of faculty and staff dedicated to our mission, “to educate future health care professionals to meet the diverse pharmaceutical care needs of the people of Louisiana and to serve the professions of pharmacy and toxicology through a balanced program of education, research, service, and patient care.” It is our goal to educate entry-level pharmacy practitioners to deliver pharmacy care in a dynamic, culturally diverse society, enabling our graduates to enter a wide range of existing or emerging health care practices, and through this task, instill students with the School’s core values of responsibility, innovation, collaboration, quality and professionalism.
In addition to preparing quality pharmacists for the state of Louisiana and surrounding regions, our faculty are dedicated scholars who make valuable contributions to the world’s medical and scientific knowledge base through the School’s extensive research programs. Faculty in our program work collaboratively with other researchers not only in Louisiana , but across the world to build and sustain research programs focusing on drug development and delivery, patient outcomes, pharmacy practice and toxicology that provide the foundations for new therapies and improve patient care.
The School also provides a unique service to the state of Louisiana. Through its collaborative partnerships with the Louisiana State University Health Science Centers and other health care centers, the School provides high-level pharmacy care for state residents. Additionally, via partnerships with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, the School provides prior authorization services, disease management programs, and evaluation of patient and program outcomes for the Louisiana Patient Assistance Program. Finally, the School’s Drug Information Center provides Louisiana’s health care professionals with assistance in obtaining drug information and providing evidence based answers to patient care questions.
We take immense pride in the quality of our students and the tradition of excellence established by our faculty, students and graduates. Many of our graduates go on to be entrepreneurs, volunteer student preceptors and leaders in the profession.
Thank you for visiting the ULM School of Pharmacy. If you have any questions or need additional information, feel free to contact us, and please join with us as we enhance Louisiana’s health and environment.
