Teaching Activities

TOXI 411 General Toxicology I

The focus of this course is on the biochemical and cellular basis of chemical toxicity including toxicodynamics, biotransformation, toxicokinetics, mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, teratogenicity and toxicity testing.  Provisions and consequences of relevant environmental legislation plus assessment and perception of risk are integrated with discussion of basic toxicological concepts.  Student teams debate controversial, contemporary topics in toxicology.

PHAR582 Advanced Toxicology Laboratory.

Instruction in common laboratory techniques used to evaluate chemical toxicity.  Includes lectures on instumental and procedural theory plus complementary laboratory excercises.

PHAR590A  Methods and Principles of Toxicology

Advanced instruction in specialized topics.  Topics vary with each offering and have included cell culture techniques in toxicology and flow cytometry.  Includes lectures on instumental and procedural theory plus complementary laboratory excercises.
