January 20, 2006
Dear Colleagues,
This year marks an important milestone for ULM 75 years. There will be many events throughout the year where we focus on the university's history and celebrate the impact that the university has had on the entire northeast Louisiana region. We will officially begin the celebration next week with two special events.
First, on Tuesday, January 24th at 11:00 a.m. in Brown Gymnasium there will be a campus-wide kickoff for the yearlong anniversary celebration. Students, faculty, and staff will all celebrate together with lunch, music, commemorative items, door prizes, and the presentation of a time capsule. You will have an opportunity to sign a scroll which will be opened in 25 years during the centennial celebration.
Then, at 6 p.m. (again in Brown Gymnasium), there will be a more formal community celebration to which all faculty and staff are invited. We will honor our heritage by recognizing the Ouachita Parish School Board, Kiwanis Club, Lions, and Rotary - the community organizations that led the effort to found this great institution in 1931.
Celebrating milestones like this one gives us opportunities for reflecting on the many accomplishments of the past, and fuel our drive for still greater achievements in the future. I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

ULM President
