March 27, 2007
Dear Colleagues,
Tomorrow marks the fifth anniversary of my service to the University of Louisiana at Monroe as your president. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to our progress during my tenure. Deborah and I are thankful for the opportunity to be a part of your lives and to watch the reclaiming of a campus by caring and engaged faculty, staff, and students. I remember like it was yesterday the Saturday in April when over 500 of us came to campus and began the process of “Reclaiming our Campus.” From painting classrooms and residence halls during that spring weekend in 2002, to opening a new major in Health Studies in the spring of 2007 and everything in between, our progress has been remarkable.
In celebration of all that you accomplished during these last five years, I want to invite each of you to a luncheon in your honor on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the new Bayou Park. Please come and join Deborah and me and all of the ULM employees in a day of celebration. Remember to save this date, and you will be hearing more about the plans for this special occasion in the next few weeks.
James E. Cofer, Sr.
ULM President
