Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to inform you about a construction project that will have a significant impact on our campus. During the summer months, we will demolish the existing parking lots along DeSiard Street and replace them with new, redesigned parking lots that will be more functional, safer, and will improve the aesthetics of the campus. The project includes adding a decorative iron fence and signage that will border the front of campus. The project also includes improving the existing landscaping and sidewalks.

To accomplish this important project it will be necessary for us to temporarily close these parking lots along DeSiard Street. All of the parking lots along DeSiard will be closed beginning Monday, May 14, 2007. The scheduled opening date for the new lots is Monday, August 13, 2007, pending any weather / construction delays.

For your information and convenience we have prepared a website explaining the project and parking lot closures in detail. Please go to www.ulm.edu/parking to review this information.

Some of the parking zoning will also change temporarily during construction to allow easy access to our facilities located along DeSiard Street. Parking along Mitchell Drive, Bayou Drive, and the Strauss Hall parking lot will be opened to parking for students, faculty, and staff on a first come, first serve basis. This does not include the reserved numbered spaces or handicap / fire lane spaces.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to improve our campus facilities and infrastructure. Should you have any detailed questions or comments feel free to contact Jason Roubique, Facilities Planning Officer at 342-3459 or roubique@ulm.edu.
