A message to ULM faculty and staff from ULM President Nick J. Bruno
Dear Colleagues,
Last Friday I attended the Senate Finance Committee meeting in Baton Rouge. Higher Education was the topic of discussion. Senate analysts, Board of Regents representatives and the four UL System presidents responded to questions from committee members. Many questions from the committee focused on higher education's plans for addressing the fiscal years 2012 "cliff."
I want each of you to have direct access to critical deliberations taking place in Baton Rouge regarding the future of higher education. It would be difficult for me to provide you a summary of the proceedings; however, I thought if your schedule permitted you may wish to view the meeting via the following link:

In addition, this Friday the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget will meet to discuss higher education funding. You can access this meeting also via the Louisiana Legislature's web site. Chairman Fannin has requested information from higher education which I am sure will be reviewed and discussed.
I will continue to keep you posted on upcoming meetings that will allow you to remain informed on our budgetary process as we move closer to the upcoming legislative session, which will be critical to the University of Louisiana at Monroe and the future of higher education in Louisiana.
One of my commitments to all of ULM's constituents was to maintain open communication. As part of that, a Facebook page was initiated. My intent was to invite anyone interested in participating to join my page.
However, you should not view this invitation as mandatory or feel any obligation to do so. This outlet simply provides me with another source by which I can communicate with all individuals interested in ULM.
Thank you for your commitment to ULM.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nick J. Bruno
ULM President
