2007 Questions . . .

Q. Now that the DeSiard parking lots construction is complete, when can we expect parking stripes to be repainted along Bayou Drive to regain some of those lost parking spaces?

A. We are going to paint / stripe parallel parking spots along Bayou Drive between DeSiard Street and Mitchell Street. We suggested using the same layout that we had prior to the city repaving Bayou Drive. We were informed that the city contractor is scheduled to come out and paint these spots the week of December 10, 2007, depending upon the weather. If for some reason they do not complete the striping this week, we will have the physical plant painters apply the necessary striping. Bottom line, the spots will be back and clearly marked at the start of spring semester.

Q. With all of the new (and very much needed) construction on campus, has there been any discussions about Stubbs Hall?

A. Yes. We have a project in our capital outlay budget to replace or renovate Stubbs Hall. The ULS Board and the Board of Regents have endorsed the project, and it is now up to the Legislature to provide funding through their capital outlay process.

Q. What is reaffirmation and accreditation?

A. Let me answer the second part of the question first. Accreditation is a statement of the institution’s continuing commitment to integrity and its capacity to provide effective programs and services based on agreed-upon accreditation standards.

Reaffirmation is the end result of all the processes the university goes through to ensure ULM's academics are accredited.

More information about accreditation and reaffirmation is available at our SACS 2009 Web site.
