The President’s Academy 2013 is a five-day residential college preparatory program held on the ULM campus. This year we are partnering with two Fortune 500 companies in Monroe, CenturyLink Communications and Angus Chemical Company, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, a local hospital, E.A. Conway Medical Center and Escamilla Poneck & Cruz, an international law firm, to provide externships in the fields of Computer Sciences, Law, Health Sciences and Physical Sciences. Coupled with follow-up laboratory experiences with university faculty and college courses that equip scholars with the soft skills to flourish in a competitive job market, the President’s Academy 2013 offers high-ability high-school students exclusive access to the global economy.

Follow the line of the law as you learn to research, analyze and draft legal memoranda with lawyers from international law firm Escamilla, Poneck and Cruz LLP.
Work side-by-side with chemical engineers as you see how drugs are synthesized, developed and tested for purity in state-of-the-art analytical laboratories at ANGUS Chemical Company, a subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company.

Participation is limited to 65 academically motivated students who have the aptitude to participate in challenging and intensive real-life work experiences with world-class businesses and organizations. If you would like to find out more about the academy, you can inquire online.
Applicants must meet the following:
• Academic Requirements -minimum ACT 24 or 3.5 GPA
• Academic Recommendations (2)
• Incoming Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors in Fall 2013
Students completing the academy will receive 1-hr college course credit. The completion of online applications and two recommendations are due by May 10.
Academy costs cover room and board for five days on the ULM campus, instruction by faculty, all college course materials, transportation to externships, 1-hr college course credit, Welcome Reception and Awards Banquet for parents and are valued at $1,150 per student. Support from the university and President Nick Bruno have allowed us to offer the academy for a reduced fee of $500 per student.

Academy fees may be paid online or by check. If paying by check, please send a $500 check made payable to the order of "The University of Louisiana at Monroe" with the memo of "Presidents Academy" and mail to the DREAM office: 700 University Avenue, Monroe LA 71209.
If you are selected you will be notified by May 15 and will receive a special scholarship rate of $500 due by June 1.
