AWARDS

Dr. Rebecca Dodson-Webster, music, was awarded the Artsworks 2004 Outstanding Artist of the Year by the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council. Nominated by the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, she was recognized for outstanding artistry, achievemen, and service to the community, the university, and the orchestra. The award was presented February 20, 2004.

Dr. Janet Haedicke, English, received the Louisiana Board Member of the Year Award for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Abused and Neglected Children) in December 2003.

Dr. Michael Ramsey, clinical laboratory science, was nominated and selected to be listed into Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, 2003-2004. 

Dr. Girish Shah, basic pharmaceutical science, was named the Mary E. and Darrell L. Calhoun Endowed Chair in Pharmacology. Dr. Shah’s research is involved with the role of calcitonin in prostate cancer.

The cheerleaders competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association's College National Cheerleading Championship January 15-19, in Orlando, Fla., and won first place in the Small Co-Ed Division I competition. The Cheerleaders are coached by Jennifer Hyde, Coordinator of Spirit Groups, and Trey Griffin.
