Robert Earle Barham, English, presented “Hermione’s Transformation in The Winter’s Tale” at the (Re) Reading Shakespeare: Text and Performance Conference in May 2004, at Bogazici University in Istanbul , Turkey .

Dr. Karen Briski and S.A. Paranjape, basic pharmaceutical sciences, presented “Nonuniform neuronal genomic activation within the CNS metabolic regulatory circuitry is correlated with diminished counterregulatory response to recurrent insulin-induced hypoglycemia (RIIH)” to the American Diabetes Association in June in Orlando, Fla. ● Dr. Briski and G.D. Patil presented “Transcriptional activation of nuclear tractus solitarius/area postrema catecholaminergic neurons by caudal fourth ventricular administration of the monocarboxylate transporter inhibitor, alpha-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (4-CIN)” to the American Diabetes Association in June in Orlando, Fla. ● Dr. Briski and B.J. Kadlubar presented “Effects of neonatal estrogenization on mating-induced Fos expression in reproductive behavioral regulatory structures in the adult male rat brain” to the Endocrine Society in June in New Orleans, La. ● Dr. Briski and S. R. Singh presented “Hindbrain glucoprivation elicits site-specific modifications in preoptic GABAergic neuronal signaling in the steroid-primed, ovariectomized female rat” to the Endocrine Society in June in New Orleans, La. ● Dr. Briski and K.B. Ahmed presented “CNS Sites of Estrogenic Modulatory Action in Neuronal genomic activation in response to single versus Recurrent Insulin-Induced Hypoglycemia (RIIH) Effects of Neonatal Estrogenization on Mating-Induced Fos Expression in Reproductive Behavioral Regulatory Structures in the Adult Male Rat Brain” at the Neuroscience Research Day on May 7 at LSUHSC-Shreveport, La. ● Dr. Briski and S.R. Singh presented “Hindbrain Glucoprivic Increases in Preoptic GABAergic Neurotransmission: Role of Mu Opioid Receptor Signaling” at the Neuroscience Research Day on May 7 at LSUHSC-Shreveport, La. This poster won first place in the graduate student poster competition.

Dr. Wilson Campbell and Dr. Mark Doherty, kinesiology, presented “Attitudes Among Northern Louisiana Parents Toward Sexual Practices Items on the 2003 Youth Risk Behavior Survey” at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance’s Southern District Conference in April in New Orleans, La.

Angela Franklin, Kathryn Davis, and Peggy Meredith, occupational therapy, presented “Promoting Competency, Collaboration and Best Practice for Clinical Educators” – a workshop for occupational therapists and certified occupational therapy assistants who supervise Level II fieldwork students- on February 27, in Pineville , La. , on March 26, in Monroe , and on April 30, in Baton Rouge , La. These workshops were sponsored by ULM and the Kitty DeGree Endowed Professorship in occupational therapy.

Aleecia Hibbets and Patricia Roshto, accounting, presented “The Effect of Students’ Timely Completion of Web-Based Supplementary Materials and Undergraduate GPA on Performance in the Introductory Accounting Course” at the Southwest Regional Meeting of the American Accounting Association in March in Austin , Texas.

Thomas Hodge and Dorothy Davis, accounting, presented “Broadband Deployment in Rural America: Are State and Federal Tax Credits the Answer?” and “Refund Anticipation Loans in Today’s Tax Market”at the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences in February in Las Vegas, Nev.

Dr. Charles W. Jastram, Jr., clinical and administrative sciences, M.L. Pendergrass, H.M. Calmes and J. Alston presented a poster titled “Improvement of Glycemic Control in Surgical Critical Care Patients in a Large Tertiary Care Hospital” at the Louisiana Society of Hospital Pharmacists Annual Meeting held in April in New Orleans, La. ● Dr. Jastram, C.N. Ho and H.M. Calmes presented two posters titled “Development of guidelines for the use of Viagra® in pulmonary hypertension” and “A retrospective review of amphotercin B and amphotericin B (Lipid Complex) for potential adverse drug reactions”at the Louisiana Society of Hospital Pharmacists Annual Meeting held in April in New Orleans, La.

Dr. Chris Johnson, Jo Ann O’Quinn and Jay Bulot, gerontology, presented “Sustaining Intergenerational Service-Learning: Crossing New Paths” at the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education Conference held February 27, 2004, in Richmond, Va., and at their March 2004 meeting ● Dr. Johnson and R. Aditya presented “Executive Development: Characteristics of the Adult Interpersonal Acumen Scale” at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Conference in April in Chicago, Ill.

Dr. Terry L. Jones, history, presented "Campbell Brown's Civil War: A Staff Officer's View of Army Politics" at the Deep Delta Civil War Symposium in Hammond , La., in June.

Dr. Michelle McEacharn with co-author Bruce Wampler, accounting, presented “MUS Without the Mess: An Excel Spreadsheet for Monetary Unit Sampling” at the Southwest Regional Meeting of the American Accounting Association in March in Austin , Tex.

Dr. Harihara M. Mehendale, toxicology, presented “The Role of Tissue Repair in Liver Toxicity” at the 23rd Annual Conference of The Society of Toxicologic Pathology, held June 13-17, in Salt Lake City , Utah .

Carolyn Murphy, occupational therapy, presented “Client Centered Care: Is it the Key to Client Satisfaction and Improved Functional Outcomes?” on April 19, to the St. Francis Specialty Hospital rehab staff, and on May 25, to the St. Francis Specialty Hospital Advisory Board.

Dr. Ava Pugh, curriculum and instruction, presented "Candidates Perceptions of Project Learning Tree" to the Louisiana Academy of Sciences at McNeese State University on March 19, 2004 . ● Dr. Pugh and Dr. Jerrilene Washington, curriculum and instruction, presented two workshops titled “Fun with Social Studies Instruction” and “What Do I Want? Distinguishing Wants and Needs” to the Louisiana Geography Education Alliance state meeting held on April 3, at Northwestern State University .

Shravanthi Gandra, pharmacy administration Ph.D. candidate, and her major advisor, Dr. Lesa Waggoner Lawrence presented “Healthcare Utilization Among Migraineurs with CoMorbid Depression,” at the Southern Pharmacy Administration Conference held in June in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Their research “Evaluation of the Introduction of Sildenafil Citrate on the Self-Report and Diagnosis of Erectile Dysfunction,” will be presented at the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City , Utah, in July.

Terry Michelle Zagar, pharmacy, presented “Medication Management” at the Louisiana Geriatric Society Mid-Year Conference on June 19, 2004 , at ULM .
