Meeting, April 27-30 in Dr.
Marsha Fannin, clinical and
administrative sciences, attended a New Teachers Training Seminar entitled
“Creating a Culture for Learning” at the American Association of
Colleges of Pharmacy Annual Meeting on July 10, in Ronald Guidry, accounting, successfully defended his dissertation “Enhanced Voluntary Disclosures and Its Effects on the Cost of Capital: An Empirical Examination of the FASB’s Improving Business Reporting: Insights into Enhanced Voluntary Disclosures” on June 2004. Larry Humble, RPh, a
pharmacy doctoral candidate, has been elected to serve as chair of the
International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR)
Student Network. The mission
of ISPOR is to translate pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research into
practice to ensure that health care resources are allocated wisely,
fairly, and efficiently. ISPOR
represents researchers and users of pharmacoeconomic and outcomes research
from a variety of disciplines including medicine, pharmacy, economics, and
health services research. As
chair of the ISPOR Student Network, Humble’s responsibilities will be to
coordinate the overall direction of the 28 ISPOR student chapters, plan
and seek funding for student activities at ISPOR’s international
meeting, and formulate a strategic plan to increase ISPOR student
involvement in the Dr.
Lesa Lawrence and Dr.
Joe Feldhaus, clinical and administrative sciences, recently attended
the Southern Pharmacy Administration conference
at Dr.
W. Greg Leader and Dr.
Susan Sirmans, clinical and administrative sciences, attended a
leadership seminar entitled “Leading Strategically” at the American
Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Annual Meeting on July 10, in Dr.
Stacy Moak,
Dr. Harold Williamson, and Kelly
Wright, criminal justice, attended the annual Project Safe
Neighborhoods conference in Carolyn
Murphy,
occupational therapy, received her master of arts in gerontology from Dr.

and Dr. Jerrilene Washington,
curriculum and instruction, attended the Louisiana Geography Education
Alliance state meeting held on April 3, at Tommy
Walpole,
alumni relations, was elected president of the Monroe YMCA board of
directors in June. His duties will include developing a strategic plan for
the YMCA and working with various committees on building needs. Coby

Directors of Athletics Leadership Conference May 1-3, at Georgia Tech
