Scholarship InformationGeneral Institutional Scholarship Information The scholarship office assists undergraduate students with scholarship needs. The scholarship office awards and processes undergraduate institutional scholarships (pdf). Institutional scholarships are awarded based upon a combination of academic accomplishment and standardized test scores. These awards are renewable based upon the specific terms and time periods outlined in the individual student contract. There is not a separate application for institutional scholarship awards. The application for admission serves as the application for these scholarships. The School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) offers talent grants in the areas of music, dance, theatre and art. These performance-based awards are competitive and limited in number. Students wishing to audition should contact the appropriate department or the VAPA office at (318)342-3811. Questions regarding Spirit Group awards and tryouts (dance team and cheer squad) should be directed to the appropriate area or to the Department of Student Life and Leadership at (318)342-5287 or ULM Student Life. Inquiries regarding athletic awards should be made directly to the appropriate athletic coach. For more information, link to ULM Athletics. The TOPS Program awards eligible students who attend a Louisiana public college or university an amount equal to tuition at the school attended. For current rates, see the schedule of classes for semester specific information and web links. The value of TOPS awards is determined annually. TOPS awards for 2009 were $1,289 per semester for the TOPS Opportunity Award, $1,489 for the Performance Award and $1,689 for the Honors Award. Fee bills become available to students during the month of July. ULM awards anticipated credit for TOPS to admitted students appearing to have met the eligibility requirements (link to www.osfa.state.la.us). Students will receive actual credit for TOPS after formal notification is received by ULM from the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA). This generally occurs late September or early October. Any student deemed ineligible to receive TOPS funds will be responsible for paying these charges when ineligibility is determined. Non-resident students must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible for an out-of-state waiver. Eligible students will be notified of the award after submission of their admission application, official ACT or SAT score and official high school/college transcript(s). High School Students
Transfer Students with less than 12 semester hours of college credit completed must meet the same requirements as direct from high school students (listed above). Transfer Students with 12 semester hours of college credit or more completed must meet all of the following requirements
