The advisement of social work students is an important component of the Department of Social Work. In order to ensure that courses are taken in proper sequence, pre-social work and social work majors are required to see an advisor prior to registering by phone. Pre-registration advising begins as soon as the class schedules are available. Specific dates assigned for pre-registration advising in the department are announced in social work classes during the Fall and Spring semesters. All students entering the Social Work Program are classified as pre-social work majors. These students are advised by designated pre-social work faculty advisors until they meet the requirements for admission into the social work major.
