Greetings,
My name is Camile Currier, a native of Amite, La. and a 1969
Graduate of Amite High School. I came to North Louisiana in the
Fall of 1969 to pursue my college education at Northeast Louisiana
State College. I received my Bachelor's degree in May, 1973 and
my Master's degree in December of 1974 from Northeast Louisiana
University. During this period I worked as an assistant with
the NLU men's track team.
I began working for NLU, now the University of Louisiana at
Monroe, in the Fall of 1975 as the first full-time Intramural
Coordinator at the university. In 1980, I became the Director
of Intramurals and began working on a plan to develop the top
recreational program in the state of Louisiana. In 1983 and again
in 1987, the students of ULM voted to build a state-of-the-art
Recreation and Fitness Center. In 1992, I became the Director
of Recreational Services and Facilities. The Activity Center
opened in March of 1993 and University Park outdoor complex became
a reality during the next year, giving ULM the best overall recreational
facilities in the region
In 2000, I had the opportunity to continue my advancement in the Division of Student Affairs, when I accepted the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs position. In 2004 I became the Associate Dean for Student Services and in 2007 I was appointed as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.
In my tenure at ULM for over 30 years, I have served under four presidents, which has been an extraordinary experience made possible by the support of outstanding colleagues and a great family. My daughter Jennifer and her husband Jason are both currently employed in the Division of Student Affairs at Texas A&M University. I am the proud papa of two beautiful granddaughters, Eleanor Grace and Claire Olivia.
If you encounter any problems on campus or happen to be in the Student Union Building area, please stop by our office in the Student Center, room 239; we would like to assist you in any way we can to make your college experience most enjoyable.
