Vision Statement

Over my thirty year career in higher education, I have had the opportunity to work in, for, and with all areas of Student Affairs. My vision for Student Affairs is quite simple - Students First!

I believe we are devoted to serving students first within an environment of mutual respect and in partnership with our University community. It is our responsibility as Student Affairs professionals to help students develop their full potential in and out of the classroom. We must also strive to produce individuals of character, integrity, tolerance, and vision.

The Division of Student Affairs should enhance the overall educational experience of students through development of, exposure to, participation in, and assistance with intellectual, spiritual, cultural, recreational, social, leadership, and career opportunities.

The Division of Student Affairs should support and enhance the educational mission of the University and assist students in setting and meeting goals. We should work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to provide a comprehensive learning environment.

Therefore, it is my vision for Student Affairs that we, as a University community, come together to facilitate a positive environment that is conducive to learning and personal growth. This vision must enable our students to become successful in their life ambitions, establish lifelong friendships, and become productive citizens in a culturally diverse and complex society.
