Alcohol 101

This CD-ROM program makes innovative use of interactive computer technology to help combat the abuse of drinking sometimes found in campus life. The program invites users to a virtual party that incorporates the types of situations and pressures they might face at college social gatherings. In a non-judgmental style, the content encourages students who drink to maintain personal control and safety by helping them understand the consequences of harmful drinking, as well as the effect of alcohol on judgment and physiology.

Alcohol 101 is available in the SSC.  No appointment is necessary.  You should plan to spend about an hour going through the program.

DISCOVER

DISCOVER, the most comprehensive career planning software available, gives you complete, up-to-date databases of occupations, universities and training institutions, financial aid/scholarships, and military options. Well-respected inventories of interests, abilities, and job values underlie DISCOVER’s unique guidance process.

All students have access to the ACT DISCOVER program, which is provided in the Student Success Center located on the second floor of the ULM Library. Those who use DISCOVER are able to develop their own personal career plan. This plan can be stored as a document and can be accessed at any time once personal data has been entered. The user may also print any portion of the DISCOVER documents.

DISCOVER can help you:

·              Learn about your work-related interests, skills, and values.

·              Investigate occupations you may be considering.

·              Decide on a career.

·              Research other colleges and graduate schools.

·              Provide links to military training.

·              Provide job-seeking help.

DISCOVER cannot give you “magic answers or make decisions for you.”

There are two ways to use DISCOVER:

Information only--this choice provides quick information about specific occupations, schools, military programs, financial aid options, job seeking skills, and non-traditional ways to earn college credit.

Guidance Plus Information--this choice takes you through a step-by- step approach to career planning, including inventories, to assess your interests, abilities, values, and experiences.

How do I get started?
