2009 Summer Camps
SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM
This summer program is held at the Activity Center and is for kids who want to have a good time enjoying field trips, games, sports, art, and fitness activities. Program runs for 10 weeks. Participants can be signed up for one week or all ten.
Ages: 5-12
June 1-August 7, 7:15 a.m.-5:45 p.m.
Fee: $50 registration fee (non-refundable) $80.00 per week to be paid bi-weekly or monthly.
Campers bring their own lunch and snacks.

ADVENTURE QUEST 09
CAMPS FOR CURIOUS KIDS
LEGO ENGINEERING CLASSES
Five LEGO Engineering classes will be offered. Each student will have the opportunity to work in a lab-type setting with LEGO Educational Division Materials and LEGO Technic Elements kit for each two students. The courses are designed to start 5 to 12 year olds off with the fundamentals, and then lead them through more complex projects until they are able to build and program a working robot by themselves. The objectives of each course are to encourage hands-on (tactile) learning, promote team building, allow creativity in construction and to have fun with basic science and mathematics.
1-Junior Vehicles - Cars, Carts, Trucks and Such
Build 14 different vehicles, some of which haven't even been invented in the "real" world, yet! Projects include: Golf Cart, Model “A”, Semi Truck/Trailer, Rubber Band Trigger Car, Snow Plow, Motorized Shopping Cart, Stand-Up Scooter, Three Wheeler, Tow Truck, Trick Car, Wagon, Wheel Barrow and Zamboni.

2-Vehicle Engineering- Heavy Metal Machines
Build 13 different vehicles and cap your week off with a final project. Projects include: Adjustable Crane, Bobcat, Flipper Car, Forklift, Inch- worm Car, Motor Cycle, Motorized Wheelchair, Rally (race) Car, Riding Mower, Scissor Car, Space Cruiser, Steamroller, and Submarine.

3-Battle Bots- Create, Clash, Conquer!
Design and build your own motorized battle vehicle. Disable or overcome your opponent's bot by using mechanical lifts, nets, drills, ramps and more.
Ages 8+

4-Elementary Engineering - Level 1
Learn by doing in this introductory class on gears, levers, wheels, axles, structures, forces and simple machines. This is an initial class is a must for those interested in the more advanced vehicle classes.

5-Junior Engineering - Level 1
In this class you will make use of basic gears, levers, wheels, axles, structures, forces and simple machines. This class is a great introduction for those interested in training for more advanced vehicle classes.

Gizmo's Robot Factory - Secret Agent Man

Explore the planet's most powerful forces! Find out how new sources of energy can make the planet a better place to live by building speeding electric cars, using solar energy to cook up "s'mores" and create your own water filtration system!

Games People Play - Grab, Grapple, and Grips
Build dragsters, throw magnetic darts, and hurtle parachutes through the air. Throw down your sickest physics moves with skateboard racers and slime sport shoes. Learn how science relates to sports and self-guided contraptions.

VIDEO GAME MAKING
Students will learn how to design and modify their own exciting arcade style video game. They will learn how to control characters, objects and outcomes in their games, then increase the difficulty level and add more features. Students will design their own version of PacMan and several others. Students will leave this camp with their video game on a CD to take play on their own home computer.
Ages 10-15

DIVE INTO GUARD START (JUNIOR LIFE GUARD)
Can you swim with your head in the water? If you can and you are an 11-14 year-old who is interested in becoming a lifeguard --sign up and swim away while learning water safety, CPR, and first aid. You could become certified in First Aid.
Pre-requisite: Student must be able to swim 25 yards with rhythmic breathing.
Ages 11-14
June 2-30, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1-3:00 p.m.
