our students, their university

I have learned so much about different cultures from all over the state, country, and even around the world

active in the university community, works with others

Brady Middleton is a junior secondary education major from Mangham.

I have been a member of many campus organizations including: CAB, PREP Staff, Hometown Hawks, SGA, Kappa Sigma, APEL, IFC, FRYS TA, Student Advisory Council, and the Council of Student Body Presidents. I’ve worked many jobs while in school. I’ve had Work Study jobs in Student Life and Leadership, and I’ve served on PREP Staff. Presently I am a substitute teacher for the Ouachita Parish School System.

I have one younger sister named Holly and she is a freshman here at ULM.

After graduation next May, I plan to attend graduate school and obtain my master’s in Education Administration. I would also like to begin my doctorate research the summer after I obtain my master's. I plan to teach for at least 3-5 years prior to running for a position on the local School Board. I would love to teach and remain politically active in my community.

My favorite spot on campus used to be Harris Hall, but since it's timely demolition I have found myself spending more time in the newly-renovated SUB. It's spacious, versatile, and it's where our SGA offices are located.

I have learned from many wonderful professors here at ULM. My favorites ar Dr. H.P. Jones (history), Dr. Gordon Harvey (history), Dr. John Sutherlin (political science), and Dr. Rebecca Stephenson (English). These professors interact with their students well, and they keep their students interested in their classes. Whether it be their methodology, charisma, or simply their love for their profession, any student can easily see that they enjoy their jobs and that they love teaching. Dr. Sutherlin has ingenious ways to make political science interesting to the average student. He encourages interaction in the classroom and activity on the campus. He participates in campus events and serves on many ULM committees where he represents opinions of the faculty and of the students.

I will never forget my first ULM football game. I was working as a video guy for the team and was stationed at the upper level of home side of the stadium. The game went by really fast, and I can't remember if we won or lost, but the energy in the stadium was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. After the game, the fireworks were amazing, and I actually got to share them with my girlfriend Haylee Murry (we met at PREP that summer). We went on our first date after the game and talked until 2 a.m. Well, my car battery ran down, and we had to call her sorority sisters to give me a jump (very embarrassing). We didn't get back on campus until almost 5 a.m., and I had class at 8 a.m. Great memories!

Brady's ULM graphicULM has given me opportunities that I would not have had at any other institution. I've learned how to be a more versatile person, how to deal with troubling situations and how to affectively work with people even if we don't share the same ideas or beliefs. It took a few years, but I've learned how to manage my time to maximize my ability while maintaining my sanity. Through my involvement in organizations and my service on university committees, I've learned how to be a responsible and productive human being. ULM has helped me grow socially, intellectually, and physically (thanks to Chef Jo and ARAMARK). This university holds a special place in my heart ... I have absolutely loved my experience here; it has made me who I am today.

Great Education, Good Times, Bright Future
