works hard, has fun
Charles Strauss is a junior political science major from Sulphur.
I have one younger sister.
I participate in the ULM Honors Program, ULM Pre-Law Association, College Republicans and Alpha Lambda Delta. I'm an intern for State Representative Frank Hoffmann and the Social Science Research Lab.
I love the ULM Activity Center. Playing basketball there helps me escape from anything that's stressing me.
One of my favorite professors is Dr. John Sutherlin. He always knows what to do to bring the best out of his students.
One of my favorite memories is ULM's Convocation during my freshman year. I remember President Cofer telling us that in four years we would re-enter Fant-Ewing Coliseum the same way, but instead of starting college, we would be graduating. It really left an impression that I needed to work hard and have fun while I'm here because this time of my life won't last long.
I've greatly increased my work ethic and professionalism here at ULM. The ULM faculty, especially in the political science department, are great at expecting the best work from their students and projecting that school should be treated like a job.
I chose to attend ULM because this university has a great atmosphere and a beautiful campus. Even though I'm four hours from home, I never feel like a stranger here.
Balancing school and work is always a matter of priorities and preparation. Decide what's most important, then make a plan to accommodate that arrangement.
After graduating from ULM, I plan to pursue a law degree. I find jurisdprudence fascinating; taking a criminal law class this semester with Dr. Kevin Unter has reassured me that the legal field is right for me.
