involved, prepared
Lauren Miglicco of Shreveport is a senior Radiolgic Technology major who graduated in May.
I'm the oldest of three girls.
During my time at ULM, I was involved in many organizations. A member of the ULM Scouts for four years, I served as the secretary and eventually the vice president. As a member of the Campus Activites Board, I served as the Miss ULM Committee Head for the 2010 pageant. As a freshman I was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. I'm also a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and I'm involved in Chi Beta Gamma, the radiologic technology professional organization. I was elected secretary of my senior class.
I plan to move back to Shreveport and work as a diagnostic radiologic technologist.
ULM has a beautiful campus, and I love our bayou! I'm an outdoors person, so the natural beauty of the bayou is relaxing and peaceful after a busy day of clinical rotations or class.
Two important people have been a positive influence in my life during these past four years. Mr. Brett Bennett is the department head of radiologic technology, and he was my clinical instructor and teacher for the past two years. I can honestly say that I've never had a teacher who cared so much about the success of his students. He is an encourager and a supporter, and I know that he wants the very best for each one of us. I owe a great deal of my success as a radiologic technology student to him, and I'm so grateful for everything he has done for me during these past two years.
Through my involvement with ULM Scouts, I had the privilege to work both alongside and with Joanie Williams, director of student life and leadership. She has a drive for excellence, an energetic personality, and a positive attitude that is contagious! Joanie's outgoing personality and genuine spirit drew me to her, and she and I formed a very close friendship. Over the past three years she has made such a huge impact in my life, and I am very blessed and thankful to call her one of my very closest friends.
I always looked forward to one event: Spring Fever week! It's the highlight of the spring semester and a time when my friends and I relaxed and enjoyed the events and good food that CAB generously provided to the student body. Spring Fever gets bigger and better every year, and the excitement and anticipation on campus is infectious! My favorite Spring Fever was two years ago when Tracy Lawrence performed in Bayou Park. Having the concert outside gave it a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, the weather was perfect, and everyone had such a great time!
After graduating from high school, my best friend Brittany Holmes and I decided to attend ULM together, and we both chose majors in the medical field. I eventually found the perfect career in radiologic technology. The images a rad tech provides a physician are very important and are used to diagnose a patient's medical condition. The radiologic technology program provides its students with the education and training necessary to become excellent technologists, and I know it has fully prepared me to be successful in my career.
Those closest to me know that I could survive off of pepperoni pizza and chocolate ice cream! I'm only scared of two things: thunderstorms and roaches!
