participates in intramurals, confident
Phillip Hebert is a kinesiology major from Pineville.
I have two brothers and two sisters. I am the youngest.
I chose ULM for several reasons. My sister, who is close to my age, wanted me to attend ULM with her. Because of the scholarship they offered me, I could attend without any debt. When I toured the university, I really liked the campus. The fact that they beat Alabama in football the year before I started didn't hurt either.
The first organization I joined was PIKE. I am an SGA senator, and I also participate in IFC and ASK. Out of all of the organizations I am involved in, PIKE is my favorite; I love participating in the intramural sports.
After graduation I plan to apply for physical therapy school at LSU-S. At some point, I would like to start my own physical therapy clinic. I would also like to run for a local political office. Although my major has nothing to do with politics, it is a love of mine and I would like to be involved in it throughout my life.
My favorite spot on campus is the SUB because it's my favorite place to grab a bite to eat. It's also where a lot of my friends hang out between classes.
I don't have a favorite professor, but I did enjoy Dr. John Sutherlin's political science class. It was really interesting because I really enjoy political discussions. He gave me a different look at politics and helped me mold the way I view it.
One of my favorite ULM moments occurred at a football game during my first semester. The school gave out money to students who had a lot of spirit in the stands and could kick field goals from certain points on the field - I won $400 my freshman year. I was chosen again this year to kick and won $100. It was really cool to be chosen twice and to win some extra cash.
ULM has helped me improve my social skills and become very confident. I came from a small school, and I was a little uneasy about coming into a new setting where I basically didn't know anyone. Not knowing anyone didn't last long, ULM afforded me the opportunity to be successful in the classroom and to have great opportunities for social interactions.
Most people don't know that I was valedictorian of my senior class, something that gives me great pride.
