solid foundation, amazing memories

Seth Hale is a biology senior from Grand Prairie, Texas.*

I am involved in Pi Kappa Alpha, Mortar Board, Phi Kappa Phi, and Alpha Epsilon Delta.

I would really like to become a physician because the thought of helping others is very fulfilling to me. While in high school, I wanted to become a chiropractor. After one year in college, I realized that I would reach more people through traditional medicine.

My favorite place is the Chemistry and Natural Sciences Building because I have accomplished so much there in my short time at ULM. In the CNSB, I conducted research on the autoxidation of bovine hemoglobin with Dr. Watkins.

My favorite professors include: Dr. Allison Wiedemeier because she taught me more than Cell Biology; she taught me to believe in my abilities as a student and gain confidence in myself. Dr. Davis Pritchett because not only has he guided me toward the path of medicine but he has also taught me to be a strong individual and he also helped me believe that I can do anything that I put my mind to. Finally, Dr. Abra Watkins because I am confident that if it was not for his outstanding patience and guidance that I would not have made it through college.

My favorite memory at ULM is meeting the love of my life and wife Vonnie Hale. I have many amazing ULM memories: Pike rush week, Homecoming events, student research symposium, Spring Fever, and the day after finals.

When I first arrived at ULM, I was very immature and because I was from another state, I was alone. I rushed into a fraternity and worked very hard in the classroom. I have had so many great professors who have nurtured me and pushed me to fulfill my potential. The faculties of the biology and chemistry department are some of the best teachers, mentors, and friends there are. They have imprinted a love for learning that I will carry with me all of my life. Through all of my hard work, I have matured into a young man with a solid foundation for future growth.
