ITA Journal Audio/Video Reviews Information

In addition to his teaching responsibilities at ULM, Micah Everett serves as Editor of Audio/Video Reviews for the International Trombone Association Journal. Reviewers looking for forms and other information should visit this site.

International Trombone Association

Founded in 1972, the ITA is "dedicated to the Artistic Advancement of Trombone Teaching, Performance, and Literature." With over 4,000 members, the organization welcomes trombonists of all ability levels, including professional performers and teachers as well as amateurs and enthusiasts. The International Trombone Festival, an annual event sponsored by the ITA, brings together trombonists from all over the world for concerts, masterclasses, exhibits, and competitions.

International Tuba-Euphonium Association

Formerly known as the Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association (TUBA), the ITEA "is a worldwide organization of musicians whose purpose is to maintain a liason among those who take a significant interest in the instruments of the tuba and euphonium family - their development, literature, pedagogy, and performance." Very similar to the ITA site, this site offers membership information, information on the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference, and a few announcements.

The Online Trombone Journal

Arguably the best trombone site on the Web, the OTJ features articles, reviews, job and audition announcements, classified ads, and other resources useful to trombonists.

The Trombone Forum

Formerly a part of the Online Trombone Journal, TTF is a great place to learn useful (and sometimes not so useful) information about trombone and low brass playing (and other things).

TrombonesOnline.com

Features an extensive listing of professional trombonists from all over the world. Dr. Everett was surprised and honored to find himself listed here.

Douglas Yeo

Douglas Yeo, bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, offers hundreds of pages of free information relevant to all trombonists (alto, tenor, and bass) on his website. Evidences of Doug's Christian faith are also visible throughout the site.

Steven Mead

British euphonium virtuoso Steven Mead has established an extremely varied and useful site devoted to his instrument. Euphonium-related articles, literature lists, and similar information are provided free of charge, and an online store allows for purchase of sheet music, recordings, and accessories.

TubaEuph

This site, maintained by former US Coast Guard Band solo euphoniumist David Werden, offers many free articles and listings. The Euphonium Music Guide found here is especially useful.

Stacy's Trombone Site

One of the most useful trombone sites on the web, This site has loads of information on upcoming auditions, audition results, competitions, and other significant trombone-related events. The address, http://remember.to/practice, is not only catchy, but is also an important reminder.

TubeNet

Although it offers mostly tuba-specific information, this site, maintained by United States Army Band tubist Sean Chisham, can be a good resource for trombone and euphonium players.  The most notable aspect of this site is the TubeNet BBS, a discussion forum for tuba and euphonium-related issues.

TubaNews

A fairly new resource, this site regularly features articles by prominent tuba and euphonium players, as well as a discussion forum. A highly informative site!

Conn-Selmer

Conn-Selmer, a subsidiary of Steinway Musical Instruments, is now a huge conglomerate of American instrument manufacturers. Their trombones include some of the most recognized and respected brand names in the world, including Conn, King, Benge, Bach, Holton, and Martin. Dr. Everett plays and endorses the Conn 88H-O tenor trombone, the King 2103 (3B) tenor trombone, the Conn 34H alto trombone, and the Benge 290 bass trombone.

Doug Elliott Mouthpieces

Doug Elliott runs an essentially one-man operation making modular, three-part mouthpieces for trombone, euphonium, tuba, and various other low brass instruments. For those who can't seem to find a stock mouthpiece that "fits," Doug can devise and produce an appropriate mouthpiece combination relatively quickly, and affordably. Dr. Everett owns and plays five Doug Elliott mouthpieces.

Hickey's Music Center

Located in Ithaca, New York, Hickey's offers a full selection of sheet music and accessories for brass instruments.  I strongly suggest that you consider this site for your next music purchase, both because of the great selection and the fact that they ship UPS 2-Day Air at no extra charge for orders lighter than five pounds!

Sheet Music Service

Another great site with a full selection of sheet music. Shipping time to Louisiana is a bit slower than Hickey's because SMS, located in Portland, Oregon, is farther away than Hickey's. That said, they often carry items that Hickey's, for whatever reason, does not.

Ferguson Music

A small specialty shop in the L.A. area operated by freelance trombonist Steve Ferguson. While his selection and speed do not always equal that of larger stores, Steve is VERY knowledgeable and helpful, taking great pride in each customer's satisfaction. He also carries quite a few items not available at many stores, most significantly quite a large selection of S.E. Shires and Michael Rath trombones and trombone components.

Dillon Music

A larger brass specialty shop located in New Jersey. Excellent service, knowledgeable and helpful staff, and great selection.

The Woodwind and the Brasswind

In many ways one of the "old standard" mail-order and now online music stores, WWBW has a large selection of instruments and accessories for players of any instrument, at any level.
