Information specifically applicable to ULM low brass students

Applied Low Brass Syllabus This is a "catch-all" course syllabus for all music major and non-major students enrolled in applied trombone, euphonium, and tuba at ULM.

Ensembles Syllabus This syllabus applies to those students who register for additional credit for participation in Trombone Ensemble and/or Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.

Small Ensembles Syllabus This syllabus applies to those students enrolling in small ensembles (quartets, quintets, etc.) for credit.

Lesson Evaluation Form Students will receive a completed evaluation form at the conclusion of each lesson.

Courses of Study Lists of materials that low brass students at ULM might expect to encounter during each year of study. These lists provide "idealized representative examples" only. In other words, they represent the amount of material students would cover each semester in an "ideal" world. Students' actual assignments will vary widely. If nothing else, these lists can provide a purchasing guide for students looking to build a substantial personal music library.

Information useful for all low brass players

Warm-Up and Maintenance Routines Each studio member will be assigned a daily routine for use in his or her fundamentals practice. Routines of various lengths and intensities for alto trombone, tenor trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, and tuba can be found here.

Scales and Arpeggios Scales and arpeggios are a vital part of daily practice and playing development. Each student will be assigned a number of these every semester.

Slide Position, Fingering, and Overtone Charts This page links to both chromatic fingering/slide position charts and overtone charts covering a wide range of notes for each instrument.
