Who can join?

Any person who expresses interest in the purpose of the organization can join as an active member. Anyone who is enrolled as a full-time graduate or undergraduate student of higher learning can join as a student member. Student members enjoy all the privileges of NELATM except those of holding office and chairing committees.

Why should I join?

As a member of NELATM you will have the opportunity to network, share with, and learn from enthusiastic northeast Louisiana math teachers like yourself.

Do I have to be a member of LATM and NCTM to join?

NELATM is in the process of becoming an affiliate association of NCTM. LATM is also an affiliate of NCTM. You do not have to be a member of either organization to join NELATM, but of course the professional benefits of belonging to all three organizations are immense. To become a member of NCTM and/or LATM, visit http://nctm.org  and/or http://lamath.org. Because we have been formed to be an affiliate of NCTM, a member must also be a member of NCTM in order to hold a position on the Executive Council of NELATM.

What do I get with my membership dues?

In addition to belonging to a network of  math teachers throughout northeast Louisiana, you will receive our newsletter by email four times a year, have opportunities to earn professional development certificates that can be used for CLU’s at our meetings, and contribute to our discussions of mathematical reform in our area.

How can I get involved?

First, join NELATM. Come to our first meeting on Tuesday, October 6 at 5:00pm in the Airway Auditorium at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (directions will be posted on the NELATM website – http://nelatm.org  ) and bring a friend along. If you are unable to attend the first meeting, you can still join NELATM and take part in future activities. If you are interested in serving on the Executive Council or any committees, contact Sharon Brooks at sharongbrooks@comcast.net .

Additional Questions?
