Sandra Lunte, Assistant Professor, holds the Doctor of Arts from Ball State University, the Master of Music from Western Michigan University and the Bachelor of Music in flute and theory from The Ohio State University. Dr. Lunte teaches flute, flute choir and music theory. She also conducts the NLU High School Flute Camp, an annual summer event that she established in 1995. An active chamber musician, Dr. Lunte performs solo and chamber recitals around the southern U.S. She has been heard twice on National Public Radio's "Performance Today" and was a recipient of 1998 and 1996 Louisiana Division of the Arts Artist Mini Grants. She was also a winner of the 1997 and 1991 National Flute Association Professional Flute Choir Competitions. In January of 1998 she recorded two compact discs with the National Flute Choir, which are available through ALRY Publications. Dr. Lunte was chosen to be listed on the Louisiana Division of the Arts Artist and Touring Rosters. She has also conducted workshops and performed at the 1996 and 1997 Louisiana and Mid-South Flute Festivals. Dr. Lunte is a member of the Lunte/Goldspiel Flute and Guitar Duo. This duo has performed recitals across the south, been featured many times on local public radio and television, and upon invitation, performed at the 1997 National Flute Association convention in Chicago. Dr. Lunte and her husband also form a duo called the Paired Pipers, a flute duo that performs a mixture of classical, jazz and popular music. The duo is represented by the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council, has performed twice on public television and appeared numerous schools and museums around Louisiana. Both duos were chosen to be represented by the Division at the 1997 Southern Arts Exchange. In addition to performing and teaching, Dr. Lunte does much adjudicating and was a coordinating judge for the 1998 N.F.A. Newly-Published Music Competition and a judge for the 1997 National Flute Association College Masterclass Competition. She also was the primary judge for the Mid-South Junior High Masterclass Competition. Before coming to NLU, Dr. Lunte taught at Ball State, Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan Universities. Her teachers include Katherine Borst Jones, Paul Boyer, William Hebert and James Pellerite.
