ULM to host Region III Social Studies Fair

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host the Region III Social Studies Fair on Thursday, March 29, 2001 in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Approximately six hundred fifty students from fifty or more schools will be participating. Participants come from Region III, the Northeast Parishes, including Ouachita, Richland, Morehouse, Caldwell, Franklin, West Carroll, East Carroll, Madison and Tensas.

The judging is scheduled to begin at 8:30 A.M. and continue throughout the morning. The awards for winners will be presented at the awards ceremony in the coliseum beginning at 1:30 P.M. Master of Ceremonies will be Dr. Walter Creekmore and greeting the participants and guests will be Dr. Mahmoud Saffari.

The participants are divided into three divisions, 4th ­6th grades, 7th and 8th grades and 9th through 12th grades. They compete in six academic disciplines, Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science and Sociology. About half of the projects are presented by individual participants and the others by groups of two or more participants working together on a project.
