Delta RSI Teams With Entergy For A Teacher's Workshop At ULM

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host a workshop by Delta RSI (Rural Systemic Initiatives) Thursday, April 18th beginning at 12:30 p.m. and lasting until 4:00 p.m. The meeting will be on the 7th Floor of the ULM Library in the Conference Center. Lunch will be served to the teachers from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Over 60 teachers from rural schools in our area are expected to be at the workshop.

The workshop is designed to orient kindergarten through high school teachers in the use of The Science Guidebook, which was developed with funding from Entergy by the Entergy Excellence in Education Program. The Entergy Excellence in Education grant provided $37,000 to Delta RSI in order to produce The Science Guidebook.

Patty Watts, Delta RSI Field Coordinator at ULM, says, "With the support of this Entergy grant we have developed a guide book, The Science Guidebook, which gives model learning experience which teachers can use to guide instruction that will help them provide standards based science learning opportunities for their students. It was produces for the use of science teachers in the delta rural systemic initiatives. There are 11 parishes in Louisiana that are involved in that project. The book was compiled by a group of teachers and science educators with input from several other people."
