ULM Gerontology Department hosts open house for Scotland trip

The Gerontology Department at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will host an open house on Monday, March 10 at 6 p.m. The event will be held in the University Conference Center on the 7th floor of the ULM Library, Conference Room D.

An upcoming trip to Striling, Scotland will be announced at the event. The Gerontology Department would like to invite anyone who may be interested in going to Scotland with them to attend the open house. Applications and other information will be available.

Guest speaker Dr. George Wortham of Highland Presbyterian Church will talk about different cultural aspects of Scotland. Grace Hudnall of the Scottish Society of North Louisiana will also be a guest speaker. She will be presenting photographs of Scotland and sharing her knowledge about her trips there.

The trip will be part of an international studies program. Students will travel to the University of Stirling, where they will study under Mary Marshall, Director of Dementia Services Development Centre. The course of study is Dementia and Design. Dr. Chris Johnson will be leading the class from ULM. The class is open to undergraduates, graduates and professionals. It may be taken for credit or non-credit.
