ULM to Host the NELA Regional Economic Development Summit

ULM will host the NELA Regional Economic Development Summit on October 22nd from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and October 23rd from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the ULM Library Conference Center (7th floor).

The summit will be held in cooperation with Entergy, Macon Ridge Economic Development Region, the Ouachita Economic Development Corporation, and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. It will focus on the strategies for growth and renewal within our region. Experienced professional leaders in rural regional economic development and corporate site selection will help us plan our approach to attract top employers to Northeast Louisiana. Several nationally renowned experts in economic development including Mark Waterhouse of Garnett Consulting services, Rick Thrasher, former Texas Director of Economic Development and Jimmy Heidel, former Mississippi Director of Economic Development have confirmed their attendance. Other presenters include Rural Sociologist, Dr. Don Albrecht of Texas A& M University, Mike Taylor the State Director of the USDA, and David Dodd of Dodd and Associates. The summit will conclude with an address on economic development from the candidates for governor.
