Francis Thompson to speak at spring commencement

University of Louisiana at Monroe alum and State Rep. Dr. Francis C. Thompson will speak at ULM's Spring 2006 commencement ceremony May 20 at 2 p.m. in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Thompson received his secondary education degree from ULM in addition to serving as an assistant professor at ULM's College of Education for over 20 years.

Thompson has been a state representative for District 19, which includes Madison, Morehouse, Richland, East Carroll, and West Carroll parishes, since 1975.

He is currently on the American Legislative Exchange Council, and he also serves on the Board of Control for Southern Regional Council by gubernatorial appointment. Thompson is involved in a variety of organizations, such as the Delhi Jaycees, along with various legislative committees.

Thompson is a strong supporter of all levels of education in Louisiana.

Other focuses include agriculture, highways, economic development, and law enforcement.
