ULM Teams with LA Tech for Business Outlook Summit 2006

ULM will again play a prominent role in the Community Trust Bank Business Outlook Summit, March 31 from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Monroe Civic Center Conference Center.

Local economists Dr. Bob Eisenstadt of ULM and Dr. Marc Chopin of Louisiana Tech will present the outlook. They will provide the information they have developed to participants to allow for additional analysis opportunities.

This will be the second year that several local expert forecasters team up to a look at the global, national, regional and local economy. The main idea is to benefit the regional business community by taking a prepared, informed look at the year ahead. A topic of much interest is economic planning in post-hurricanes Louisiana.

Slated again as keynote speaker is Dr. Rajeev Dhawan, director of Georgia State University’s Economic Forecasting Center.

A $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior at ULM who is community/university service-minded and has also excelled academically. An exact scholarship will be awarded to a similarly qualified LA Tech student.

This program is the result of collaboration between the ULM College of Business, La Tech College of Administration and Business, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development-City of Ruston, La Department of Economic Development-NE Louisiana Region, Ouachita Economic Development Corporation, and the WestMonroe/West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce.
