SGA gives ULM administration vote of confidence

Amid the positive changes at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, the Student Government Association approved a resolution of support for ULM's administration Monday.

SGA President Rob Carroll said, “We think it’s very important to give positive reinforcement during such a great time for ULM. We want them to keep doing exactly what they’re doing because it’s great.”

The SGA resolution reads:

WHEREAS the President, Provost, and administration of this University have encouraged and rewarded interaction between faculty and students;

and

WHEREAS the President, Provost, and administration of this University have encouraged a diverse and free academic culture;

and

WHEREAS the President, Provost, and administration of this University have utilized an inclusive managerial style, evidenced by student and faculty representation on major committees;

and

WHEREAS the President, Provost, and administration of this University have made difficult decisions concerning this University, but only in the name of this University’s long-term best interests;

and

WHEREAS the President, Provost, and administration of this University have increased enrollment and student satisfaction during their tenures at this University;

and

WHEREAS the President, Provost, and administration of this University have enhanced this University’s academic culture by attracting students with higher grade point averages and collegiate entrance exam scores;

and

WHEREAS the President, Provost, and administration of this University have, in fact, decreased the student-to-faculty ratio by a full point;

and

WHEREAS the President, Provost, and administration of this University have led this University to unprecedented growth through academic enhancement, improvements in student quality of life, and extensive building programs;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association of the University of Louisiana at Monroe gives its full and unqualified support to the President, Provost, and administration and thanks them for their strong and thoughtful leadership.
