ULM campus renaissance continues

ULM's Campus Renaissance continues with the opening of the Intermodal Transit Facility, providing 270 student-only parking spaces. Even more construction projects are underway or planned.

Intermodal Transit Facility - This new facility, which will provide 270 parking spaces for students, opened Monday, Nov. 12, 2007.

Campus Security Project ­ ULM will begin a $2M campus security project. We will re-key the entire campus, add access control to all buildings and to all SMART classrooms, add security cameras in all buildings and in all SMART classrooms, and replace and add outdoor lighting.

DeSiard Street Renaissance - This area, which features redesigned parking lots that provide safer entries and exits, includes a decorative iron fence and signage in front of campus and improved landscaping and sidewalks.

Clarke M. Williams Student Success Center - Construction began in October and is scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2008. The center will include space for group and individual study, state-of-the-art computing center, counselors' offices and work areas.

Bienville Building Phase 2 Renovations - Construction began in October and will take approximately one year to complete. We will add several labs, office space for the Medicaid program and another large classroom.

Bienville Phase 3 (Construction of Vivarium and Animal Research Facility) - The architect selection board chose Bledsoe Architects as the designer for this project. A tentative completion date is August 2009.

Nursing & Administration Buildings - We will replace the elevators in the Nursing and Administration buildings during December 2007 and January 2008.

Stubbs Hall - Facility Planning & Control hired S.E. Huey Co. of Monroe to design a new roof for Stubbs Hall. The project will probably begin during the spring semester and last approximately six weeks. There will be minimal interruptions to normal campus operations.

Nursing Building - Facility Planning & Control hired Whittington Architects of Ruston to design a new roof for the Nursing Building. The project will begin during the spring semester and last approximately six weeks. There will be minimal interruptions to normal campus operations.

Schulze Dining Hall - We will replace the steam boilers and associated equipment at Schulze Dining Hall during Christmas break. Schulze dining hall will not be open during this time.

Fant-Ewing Coliseum - We will replace the cooling tower in Fant-Ewing Coliseum in February 2008.

Tennis Courts - We currently have a bid advertisement to resurface 10 tennis courts. Bids will be awarded and construction will begin in early December and completed by Jan. 31, 2008.

Masur Hall - We will replace the cooling tower at Masur Hall in February or March 2008.
