ULM to host marching band festival Oct. 30

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host the District I Band Director’s Association Marching Festival Tuesday, Oct. 30, beginning at 5 p.m. in Malone Stadium.

The ULM Sound of Today will perform in exhibition at 8 p.m., followed by the festival awards ceremony at approximately
8:20 p.m.

High school bands performing at this festival will include Ouachita Christian School, as well as Sterlington, Caldwell Parish, Bastrop, Neville, Ouachita Parish, West Ouachita, Ruston, and West Monroe High Schools.

Judges for the festival are outstanding band directors from throughout the region, and include Jude Gaspard from North Vermillion High School, Tre’ Latham from Rosepine High School, Wade Furniss from Tioga High School, Lee Smith from Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, and James Cork from Lafayette High School. The festival announcer will be Cory Crow.

There is a $3 general admission for the festival. ULM students, faculty, and staff are admitted free with valid ID.
