The ULM chapter of the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society received the Silver Torch Award for overall excellence in chapter operations. They were recognized at the Mortar Board National Conference "Carrying the Torch," July 25 – 27 in Columbus, Ohio.

ULM’s Mortar Board Chapter President Raghda Elsayed, Vice President Amber Hefner, Secretary Blair Medley, and Treasurer Mallary Soileau were distinguished for honor, along with other executives Matt Malone and Persephone Alexander.

Dr. Martha Anderson, ULM assistant dean of students, was honored with an Excellence in Advising award, accepted on her behalf by ULM representative Chase Snyder.

Anderson was quick to praise the ULM chapter’s hard work and dedication. “This group of students made a tremendous difference in the organization which recognizes senior status students who have excelled in leadership, scholarship and service to ULM.”

She also commended the chapter’s Web site and the support of Dr. Charles Holloway of the ULM Department of Foreign Languages.
