ULM research director appointed to lead national webinar development

The Director of Sponsored Programs and Research at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will head a team responsible for establishing webinars through the Society of Research Administrators International.

Rene Hearns was appointed to chair the SRA subcommittee, which will look at developing SRA’s online learning opportunities. Her appointment will run through October 2010.

“She (Hearns) has a real desire to learn and see growth in society,” said Sandra M. Nordahl, a manager for the Sponsored Research Administration at the San Diego State University Research Foundation. Nordahl chairs the SRA’s Educational and Professional Development Committee.

“She is very proactive and has been an advocate for online learning for a number of years and was logically the right person for the job,” said Nordahl.

Nordahl said as resources become increasingly tighter and technology rapidly improves, the goal of SRA’s Educational and Professional Development Committee continues to be to provide the most current educational resources to the membership.

“Hearn’s appointment will help in the effort to provide this important, coordinated aspect of the educational mission of the Society,” said Nordahl.
