Construction Management student wins at TEXO competition

Lindsey Eickman, a construction management senior and member of the Commercial Construction Competition team at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, recently won first place in Commercial Building Best Presenters category at the TEXO competition on Feb. 15 in Dallas.

The competition was a team effort and Eickman, of Garland, Texas, was recognized as having the most outstanding presentation skills of the group.

The team put together a fictional company and assigned each person a role. Each member then presented part of the team’s bid proposal for a $5 million monastery in Arlington, Texas, at the competition.
“This competition gives the students a chance to work in a simulated professional situation,” said Greg Smith, ULM’s constructor in residence and the team’s coach. “The team makes a presentation to a panel of judges to convince the judges that their ‘company’ would be best suited to perform the work for them.”

“It was a huge honor to be chosen as the best presenter among the 71 other competitors from all over Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana,” Eickman said. “I was able to present so well because I was backed by an amazing team that worked together to do our best.”

“We are extremely proud of Lindsey, and we expect her to excel in her career of choice,” Smith said.
