ULM's Rubio delivers paper on Spanish poet in New York

An associate professor of Spanish at the University of Louisiana at Monroe presented a paper about the sociopolitical and religious thoughts of Miguel Hernández as expressed in his prose and poetry on Oct. 22.

Dr. Christian Rubio presented the paper at the Centro Español in New York. The event, sponsored by the North American Spanish Language Academy (ANLE), was held in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Hernández. ANLE invited Rubio to write the paper.

Rubio's paper concentrates on the literary work of one of the most important voices of Spain during the Spanish Civil War. Through an analysis of Hernández's prose and verse, Rubio illustrates his ideology. Presentations included professors from New York who will present on a variety of topics.
