Four semi-finalists selected for ULM Presidential search; interviews to take place on campus next week

Today the search committee charged with finding a new president for the University of Louisiana at Monroe selected four semi-finalists to invite for interviews next week on the ULM campus.  The public interviews with the search committee as well as a series of meetings between candidates and campus constituency groups will be finalized over the next couple of days.

Before selecting semi-finalists, the search committee received three candidate recommendations from consultant Alan Koenig with search firm R.H. Perry and Associates.  The three joined a pool of 10 public applicants.

“The search committee had a very good candidate pool from which to select semi-finalists.  There was very thorough and thoughtful discussion, and I am appreciative of the participation from every committee member,” said UL System President and ULM Search Chair Randy Moffett.

The semi-finalists are:

Monday and Tuesday of next week, semi-finalists will be on campus interacting with the search committee and university groups such as faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members.  On Wednesday, the search committee plans to deliberate and recommend at least two candidates to the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System, which will make the final selection as early as Oct. 22.  A detailed schedule will be released as soon as possible.

“We go through these searches from time to time, and it is the most significant duty of our board.  This is a good and tested process,” said UL System Board Member and ULM Search Committee Member Andre Coudrain.

Voting members of the 14-member ULM Presidential Search Committee are UL System Board Members Andre Coudrain of Hammond, Mildred Gallot of Grambling, Edward Crawford of Shreveport, E. Gerald Hebert of Kenner, Jimmy Long, Sr. of Natchitoches, Renee Lapeyrolerie of New Orleans, D. Wayne Parker of Choudrant, Carl Shetler of Lake Charles, Winfred Sibille of Sunset, Student Board Member and ULM Student Government Association President Brook Sebren and faculty representative Anna Hill.

Non-voting, advisory members are community member Tex Kilpatrick, Monroe Mayor James E. “Jamie” Mayo and UL System President and committee chair Randy Moffett.

At today’s meeting Mayo said, “I appreciate the opportunity to serve on this committee as a non-voting member.  I don’t have a vote, but I do have a voice.  As Mayor of the City of Monroe and on behalf of the Monroe City Council and the community, we are advocating for a good president to lead our fine university.”
