ULM's Melinda Brown selected as Project Participant in prestigious professional program

Library Specialist II Melinda Brown at the University of Louisiana at Monroe Library, has been selected as a Project Participant in the Library Support Staff Certification Program.

The award is sponsored by the American Library Association and Allied Professional Association through the State Library of Louisiana.

LLSC is the national certification program endorsed by the American Library Association for library support staff. Certification is based on a nationally recognized set of competencies.

The certification, which is becoming a standard for the performance of support staff, assures a specified body of knowledge and skills and has portability from library to library.

Brown will receive the bachelor of arts degree from ULM on Dec. 17 in general studies with a concentration in social sciences.

Her daughter, Saliscia Brown, will receive the bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from ULM during the same commencement exercises.
