ULM track team members achieve academic success

Four members of the University of Louisiana at Monroe Track and Field Team recently received academic awards.

The awards were given to members of the men's and women's teams who received the highest grade point averages.

Students who received awards were:

Martin Solomon, a junior from Chester, Penn., transferred from Youngstown State University. He is currently the 49th ranked 400-meter hurdler in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He is also in the top three in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles in the Sun Belt Conference.

AnaKaren Lopez is a sophomore distance runner from Lawrenceville, Ga. She competes in the 5k and 10k, as well as Cross Country.

Awards were also given to freshmen members of the team.

Nigel Cribbs, of Hoover Ala., is a member of ULM's 4x400-meter relay team—ranked second in the Sun Belt. He also competes in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash.

Rebecca Dark of Monroe, a graduate of Ouachita Christian School, runs the 800-meter race and Cross Country.
