ULM Head of Opera presents at national convention

Dr. Mark R. Clark, Head of Opera at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, was invited to present at the National Opera Association convention held in Portland, Ore., Jan. 2-6.

The Louisiana Career Advancement Grant supported Clark's professional presentation, in which he spoke to opera directors, conductors, and voice teachers from universities in the U.S. and Canada about constructing curriculum for acting and singing university workshops.

Additional ULM professors participated in the convention. ULM Head of Piano Dr. Richard Seiler assisted Clark with his presentation.

ULM voice professor Dr. Claire Vangelisti assisted Ron Ulen, of Texas State-San Marcos, in singing examples of zarzuela vocal music.

Both Ulen and Vangelisti performed in the professional production of “Rigoletto” in June 2012 on the ULM campus.
