ULM's Shaw receives SEATA Athletic Trainer Award

ULM associate athletic director for internal operations Phil Shaw has been named the recipient of the annual Southeast Athletic Trainer's Association's (SEATA) College/University Athletic Trainer Award.

The award is given annually to recognize an athletic trainer at the college or university level for service to the institution, the community, as well as SEATA.

The selected recipient serves many functions in addition to athletic training.

Shaw arrived at ULM in January of 2004 as he was hired as the head athletic trainer after spending the previous year and a half at Coffee HS in Douglas, Ga., as the school's head athletic trainer.

In September 2006, Shaw was promoted to assistant athletic director for operations while still maintaining head athletic training duties.

In July 2011, Shaw assumed a new role within the athletic department as he was named the associate athletic director for internal operations.

Shaw received a bachelor's of science degree in physical education from the University of West Alabama in the spring 1993 and earned a master's of education degree from ULM in the spring of 1995.

Shaw and his wife Cindy reside in Monroe with their two children, Caycee and Zach.
