phishing warning, but you are safe

This was a test, but it could have been an actual PHISHING message.

In this instance, when you opened the attachment, the hacker could have released malware on your computer that installed a virus, hacked into your system, or deleted all of your files.  Take this opportunity to learn how to protect yourself. There were clues in the email.

1. Sender display name and email address: Sender's display name is that of a legitimate ULM department; however, sender's email address is a non-ULM email address.

 

2. Logo imitation or dated branding: ULM banner indicating email is from an external sender is present.

 

3. Spelling and grammar irregularities: The word "promotions" is misspelled.

 

4. Spelling and grammar irregularities: "Louisiana" is misspelled.

 

5. Spelling and grammar irregularities: The word "employees" is misspelled.

 

6. Spelling and grammar irregularities: The word "Human" is misspelled.
